Lima, nestled in the valley and surrounded by arid desert, is a beautiful place to be. Founded sometime in 1535, it has grown to become one of the vibrant cities in Latin America. Tourists can check out the main square or Plaza Mayor, the gallery called Museo de Arte, and the age-old century church of La Iglesia de San Francisco. It also contains more than 20,000 skeletons in the underground catacombs. Increase one’s interest in the city’s history through the Arms Museum, Association Museo de Automovil, and Bullfight Museum. Tourists who wanted to explore the old Peru can check out old houses which are well maintained and include Oquendo, Ricardo de Palma, Pilatos, and Riva-Aguero. In Miraflores, there are different types of pyramid structures, most of them made of sun-dried bricks and produced sometime in the early 200 AD. These are Huaca Huallamarca and Huaca Pucllana. In the beaches, one can wait for surf breaks and enjoy the waves, shop at Polvos Azules for more affordable local souvenirs, or take a cruise to the nearby island of Palominos.
