Cheap Flights to Koh Samui, Thailand from New Zealand

 

 

Located off southeastern Thailand, Koh Samui is one of the tourist destinations in the country. This island, which is part of Surat Thani province, is fringed by coconut trees and rustic beaches. Koh Samui is fast becoming a major draw in Thailand’s sandy attractions.

Koh Samui’s most popular beaches are Chaweng and Lamai. A majority of the hotels in the island are situated in Chaweng, a 7-kilometer long beach up north that is the most developed part of Koh Samui. There are plenty of excellent accommodations based in Chaweng. Lamai, on the other hand, is quieter and has smoother sand composition without much of the stones and corals. For more peace and solitude, try Bo Phut, Big Buddha and Mae Nam beaches.

The island offers a host of recreational activities to keep tourists occupied during their holiday. For one, diving is highly recommended in Koh Samui and in neighboring Koh Tan and Koh Tao. Snorkeling and wave diving are also popular in these parts. Chaweng has bungy jump facilities for those seeking adrenaline. Local sports such as Thai boxing and buffalo-fighting are points of interest for visitors as well. The best time to head for Koh Samui is between February and June. Peak seasons are in December to February and July to August.

Connecting flights from Bangkok depart for Koh Samui’s Don Sak Airport on a regular basis. Some international flights, such as those coming from New Zealand, connect from Hong Kong or Singapore. Traveling time from Auckland takes an average of 13 hours. From Wellington, the trip lasts for 17 hours while from Christchurch, it is 15 hours.
