Devonport is a city built on the mouth of Mersey River in the north-west portion of Tasmania, Australia. It is a major regional center of this part of the state. Being Tasmania’s third largest city, it is quite important, acting as access point to the rest of the island. It is also the main port for the Spirit I and Spirit II ferries of the Spirit of Tasmania which connects the city to Melbourne in Victoria. These ferries are often considered as “landmarks” of the city as these are regularly plying the Mersey River.
A visit to this town is not complete without exploring the waterfront Victoria Parade which also features some statues of renowned citizens. It is also a good idea to explore the Tiagarra Aboriginal Center, Don River Railway, Devonport Art Gallery, Maritime Museum, and the Imaginarium which allows visitors to do hands-on science activities with it being the only science discovery center in Tasmania.

Travelers from Auckland can easily reach the city within 14 hours and 30 minutes. Those from Wellington travel for 17 hours and 5 minutes while travelers from Christchurch can reach it in 17 hours and 55 minutes.
