The national carrier of Thailand, Thai Airways International is based in the Suvarnabhumi Airport. The airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance world transportation network along with United Airlines, Air Canada, Scandinavian Airlines System and Lufthansa German Airlines. Thai's fleet comprises of 90 aircraft and the airline currently operates intercontinental, regional and domestic routes in 37 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania.

Thai is a much sought after airline and offers a few non-stop flights from US, Australia and Auckland to Thailand. Thai Airways has four travel classes; these are Economy, Premium Economy, Royal Silk (business) and Royal First. Apart from more leg room, Royal First class passengers will enjoy a deluxe lounge for easy check-in, privacy in a segregated cabin and shell designed seats with a 180 degree recline, which can convert into comfortable beds. While Royal Silk Class flights that fly's between Auckland and Bangkok uses 777-300 and 777-200ER Boeing aircraft. Royal Silk Class seating is suitable for frequent business travellers and it also features a 167 degree recline and 76 inches bed length for sleeping.

The frequent flyer program of Thai Airways is Royal Orchid. With the Royal Orchid the program, there are three tiers, and the different levels are entry-level status, silver and gold status. Membership is available to all travellers over the age of 2, and it is free. Plus points can be purchased or gained from travelling with the airline as well as its partners which include car hire companies and hotels.

Thai Airways operates to over 72 destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. The airline offers flights from Auckland New Zealand to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) while its main destinations include Johannesburg, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei, Copenhagen, Frankfurt and Milan.
