Formerly, the Netherlands' national airline KLM Royal Dutch Airlines or KLM is a part of Air France-KLM and is based in Amstelveen. The airline is the world's oldest carrier and is a part of Skyteam alliance of airlines alongside Air France, Aeromexico, Alitalia, Korean Air, Delta Airlines, Czech Airlines, Aeroflot, and China Southern. KLM operates a fleet of 121 aircraft, which services a large network from its hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to destinations across Aruba, Europe, Curaçao, Toronto, Bangkok, Taipei and Tripoli.

KLM offers two classes of travel on all of its aircraft including Economy Class and business class while on its intercontinental flights a third class is offered, which is called 'premium economy class'. On KLM’s long haul flights Business Class is known as World Business Class while Business Class within Europe is called Europe Select. KLM World Business Class offers Sleeper Seats that has a 180 degree recline, message setting, entertainment system, mobile telephone, and laptop power point. Business Class passengers will also enjoy three course meals and continuous snacks. Passengers who are flying Europe Select receive priority boarding, double Flying Blue miles, extra baggage allowance, meal service and flexible booking. Economy Class passengers will receive personalised entertainment, free baggage allowance, meal and beverage service. Economy Comfort Class passengers are offered more legroom, seats with greater recline and the same complimentary services as Economy Class.

The airline's frequent flyer programme is Flying Blue. Flying Blue members are offered either Ivory (beginner’s level); Silver, Gold or Platinum membership status. Some benefits of the Flying Blue membership include bonus miles, extra baggage allowance, priority check in and Lounge access for Gold and Platinum members.

KLM main destinations include Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Kuala Lumpur, Dublin, Florence, Birmingham, Bordeaux, Frankfurt, London and Paris. KLM Airlines do not fly into New Zealand however, the airline service New Zealand through airlines including Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airways and Emirates. The airline's main competitors are British Airways, Lufthansa and its Swiss International Airways and the 33 Association of European Airlines members.
